A few days ago we announced the news to my parents! It was amazing - everything I hoped it would be. We brought the bottle of wine over in a little bag as a gift. My parents glanced at the wine label, looked back again, and then my mom asked/shouted, "Are you pregnant?" I cried and we hugged and then spent the whole night talking about the baby. It took us a while to get pregnant and every month I would dream about different ways to tell my family. I am so happy that it worked out so perfectly.
We still have to tell my Sister and Brother-in-law, and Jason's family. When we first found out we were pregnant Jason was adamant that he wanted to wait to tell his family until he had an ultrasound picture to show them. I was having a hard time with that because on a personal level I am just dying to tell them, and I also feel like they have prayed for us during hard times and are just as anxious as we are for us to get pregnant. At the same time, Jason is just as excited as I am and has waited for a long time for this to happen. I wanted to respect his wishes, but was hoping he would change his mind. Fortunately, after the excitement of telling my parents, he is ready to tell them prior to the ultrasound! Now we just need a time that the entire family is together. His family isn't really into wine so we'll have to think of some other way to announce the news, but we're having fun thinking about that.
Here are my first belly pictures taken at 3 weeks. Obviously there's not much going on there, but this will serve as my baseline. I'll post my first weekly update tomorrow!
